Red Dead Online’s Halloween Event Disappoints Fans

One of the most highly-anticipated events when it comes to video games takes place during the Halloween season. As such, Red Dead Online fans have been looking forward to the game’s Halloween-themed event for this year, which will be ongoing from October 20 through November 16, only to be left disappointed.

The online game’s Halloween Pass has been encountering issues and bugs due to the sudden stream of players. Seasoned gamers know how the content pass format can be very divisive, as it usually offers two different kinds of progression.

The first one is the kind that is free for all to earn, whereas the other kind requires players to spend real-world money in order to earn bonus rewards.

Rockstar Games decided to shake things up for Red Dead Online this year by releasing locking progression for all the players. That being said, it’s not entirely free, as players could still obtain this progression with the use of gold bars, which is the in-game premium currency.

The Halloween Pass also adds a couple of new cosmetics to the game, such as different weapon skins, masks for horses, and hand wraps for player outfit customization. Although, some fans haven’t been entirely impressed by these additions, with one Reddit user complaining that some of the added cosmetics were lazy.

This is so lazy. from RedDeadOnline

In addition, Red Dead Online’s Halloween event features new legendary animal hunts. However, because there was a sudden increase in players, these animal spawns were typically more overpopulated than anticipated. As such, hunting became a match against numerous other players who didn’t do well when it came to cooperation.

As for the event itself, the prices for almost every in-game item that you can purchase has been reduced. Not only that, but many game modes are rewarding players with triple the experience. This includes Dead of Night, the special multiplayer shootout for this year’s event.

This is a complete opposite of last year’s Fear of the Dark game mode, which was extremely well-received by fans. Fear of the Dark set players against powerful supernatural monsters, while Dead of Night is more of a free-for-all shootout that contains minimal Halloween-themed additions.

screenshot-www-rockstargames-com-2020-10-23-12_15_03

We can imagine the fans’ disappointment, as they were crossing their fingers for something more familiar. More specifically, long-time Red Dead Redemption fans have been hoping that Rockstar Games will bring back the Undead Nightmare DLC from 2010.

Ten years have passed since the DLC’s release, and fans were met with a Halloween event that couldn’t be more different than the spiritual successor they were hoping for. Even though this year’s Dead of Night event provided a new twist to Red Dead Online’s already-existent multiplayer game modes, some fans are still yearning for the kind of thrilling gameplay that only Undead Nightmare could provide.

In other news, fans have been complaining about a pesky bug present in Red Dead Online’s Halloween Pass progression. Although Rockstar Games said that a fix has already been released, players still claim that the issue is still ongoing.

Even though players weren’t impressed by the Halloween-themed event this year, Rockstar Games was still able to provide enough new content for players to engage in. All we can hope for now is that the developer will do a better job next year.

Apex Legends Season 7 Will Begin A Week Early

For the last couple of weeks, Respawn Entertainment has been teasing fans with details regarding Apex Legends Season 7, such as when the new legend Horizon issued a couple of missions to players in-game.

Fans have been looking forward to the release of Season 7, which was initially set to go live on November 10. However, it seems that this is no longer the case. It’s worth noting that Respawn Entertainment hasn’t made any official announcements just yet, but it appears that the upcoming season will begin on November 4, a week earlier than planned.

This brand-new information was revealed by Shrugtal, who is one of Apex Legends’ most reliable dataminers. According to the leaker, they were able to discover new code in the game’s files which indicated that the season has a new release date.

At first, this information went against the in-game Battle Pass menu. However, this menu has been recently updated, and it now states that instead of 21 days, players only have 14 days left to complete their Battle Pass for Season 6.

In other words, we can conclude that Season 7 will begin as soon as Apex Legends’ Halloween Fight or Fright event is done.

https://twitter.com/shrugtal/status/1318975502128979973?s=20

As mentioned, Respawn Entertainment hasn’t addressed this yet. Fans are still waiting for the company to provide some kind of explanation for this sudden change, but there are speculations circulating that it’s probably because of the fact that Season 6 was delayed.

To be more specific, there’s a chance that Season 7’s original launch date was November 4 if Season 6 was not pushed back. The sudden change brings with it both good news and bad news.

On the bright side, this means that excited fans will be able to try out the new features included in Season 7. However, this also means that fans now have less time to finish their Battle Pass for the current season. This can be a cause for concern for those players who haven’t made a lot of progress yet.

While players always have the option to purchase Battle Pass levels by using Apex Legends’ in-game currency, they would have to fork over actual money if they want to easily accumulate enough of the Apex Coins. Obviously, this is something that many fans aren’t willing to do.

In any case, there’s a lot to look forward to in Season 7. Asides from the introduction of Horizon, Shrugtal also discovered through datamining that Apex Legends might be including a new arena mode.

Arena modes are a common feature in many battle royale games these days such as Fortnite, and it’s usually used to participate in professional play. As a matter of fact, Fortnite’s arena mode is where players go to if they want to unlock events related to professional tournaments.

As such, it’s possible that Respawn Entertainment will be offering something similar to Apex Legends fans with this addition.

In other news, it appears that the wall-running mechanic from Respawn’s Titanfall series has been implemented in Apex Legends for its Halloween event this year.

Although this addition is minor enough to be considered insignificant, fans are holding on to the hope that this is an indication that the Titanfall series hasn’t been entirely forgotten just yet.

Ubisoft Drops New Watch Dogs Legion Co-Op Trailer

Serving as the third entry to Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs series, Watch Dogs: Legion is already considered to be one of the most highly-anticipated games this year. It has so many new features that make it stand out from the previous titles, such as the ability to take on the role of any NPC they come across on the street.

Not only that, but the title will be available on the next-gen consoles, namely the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, so it’s sure to have next-level graphics and visuals.

While it’s fun to cause mischief in the streets of London on your own, imagine being able to do so while being accompanied by a pal. Fortunately, Watch Dogs: Legion supports cooperative play, which is actually one of the reasons why fans are looking forward to this action-adventure hacking game.

While we know of the feature’s existence, Ubisoft hasn’t really delved into the mechanics of the game’s multiplayer mode. However, this is no longer the case, as the studio has recently released a brand-new trailer detailing to fans how the co-op mode works and what they can expect from it.

This new trailer is a continuation of last week’s amusing “Classroom 101” trailer, which emphasized Watch Dogs: Legion’s “play as anyone” mechanic. To continue where that discussion left off, this new trailer deep-dives into the game’s co-op gameplay.

Fans are welcomed back into the Watch Dogs classroom, featuring the same peevish professor greeting the students to a new discussion. The trailer starts with a couple of amusing quips regarding the students’ resistance masks, which is then followed by the “class discussion.”

More specifically, the teacher talks about what you can expect when you’re playing with other people. For one thing, he reveals that a maximum of three operatives can play together to contend with the many challenges found in Watch Dogs: Legion’s version of London.

There’s a variety of things you can do with your friends — from difficult missions that require the assistance of other players, to simply exploring the game’s expansive world and causing a bit of trouble for its citizens.

The latter was especially highlighted in the trailer, with two players tag-teaming as grandmas and wreaking havoc across the city.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-23-08_13_19 screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-23-08_13_35

That being said, it appears that permadeath rules will still take place even during co-op, as we can see that the two grandmas meet their demise when they get run over by a speeding vehicle.

Among other things, the trailer also points out the importance of teamwork when taking part in co-op missions. This was illustrated when one character was trying to succeed in one of the missions while his partners were just flirting with one another and didn’t stick to the original plan.

This new Classroom 101 trailer contained a lot of essential details about Watch Dogs: Legion for excited fans to whet their appetite with, just like the previous trailer did. From what Ubisoft has revealed so far, the title is beginning to look like one of the company’s most ambitious projects.

In other news, it’s worth noting that Watch Dogs: Legion isn’t the only anticipated title to be released by Ubisoft this year. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will also be released next month on November 10, and both of these titles will launch on the current and next-gen systems.

Player Discovers Easy Way To Climb in Genshin Impact

0
genshin-impact_exploration-guide_en_5

One of the most satisfying features of Genshin Impact is the ability to explore and run around its massive open-world map. Players traversing around Teyvat will usually find themselves using waypoints to teleport to their destinations to save time. However, when exploring new sites, climbing towering mountains will be inevitable.

Much like the titles that influenced the birth of Genshin Impact, it boasts of an exemplary collection of treasures and creatures hidden on its islands. Given the game’s various mountain ranges and valleys, climbing is essential to locating most of these hidden artifacts, and as such, players are frequently finding ways to deal with the stamina system.

A character’s stamina is what keeps players from easily jumping and running around all the time throughout the game. When climbing, swimming, gliding, and running, the player’s stamina gauge will gradually deplete. When a player loses all their stamina, they must stop to recuperate it before continuing whatever they are doing.

If the stamina gauge is consumed while swimming, the character in effect will immediately die. Generally, this makes climbing mountains more daunting but luckily, one player has discovered a way to do it the easy way.

Once players unlock the option to change their Traveler’s Vision from Anemo to Geo, they also allegedly unlock the skill to easily climb mountainsides and cliffs. Using the Traveler’s Geo Elemental Ability, players can create customized resting ledges on mountainsides, which allows them to recover stamina without falling back to the base of the mountain.

Considering recently found interaction between Jean and Klee, this sort of distinct skill utilization is becoming more and more prevalent in the game. Whereas typical stamina-saving tips include stocking items that replenish stamina, this one depends on the simple utilization of a skill.

PSA: You can use geo traveler to have an easier time climbing up high places from Genshin_Impact

In addition, it also gives a great reason to try the Traveler’s Geo skills. The elemental ability can’t be put on any kind of surface, but for the most part, it appears that players can create a ledge on most cliff-sides.

After summoning the ledge, players can easily climb to the makeshift rim, drop on it, and wait for their stamina to recover before climbing again. Needless to say, it isn’t a quicker way to climb mountains, but nonetheless, it makes high altitudes easier to access in Genshin Impact.

Sadly, skills that propel a character into the air or improve stamina are hard to come by in the game, so players must depend on these unconventional methods. And with upcoming Geo-users like Zhongli, who makes mining a lot easier, may find themselves exploring and climbing by foot more than expected anyways.

Ghost Of Tsushima Sequel For PlayStation 5 In Development Based on Sucker Punch Listing

Ghost of Tsushima is definitely one of the best games to be released this year thanks to developer Sucker Punch doing a great job. Moving forward, it looks like the development team is already working their way on a possible sequel.

According to reports, Sucker Punch has opened up a new position in their company. They are currently looking for a narrative writer who is knowledgeable about the Japanese feudal era. It’s definitely obvious that something like this might serve as a direct sequel to the popular PlayStation 4 game.

As the adventures of Jin have been put to an end temporarily, it’s highly probable that the new Ghost of Tsushima game will be told from the perspective of a new hero. While it will also possible that Ghost of Tsushima 2 will not be a direct sequel, it will certainly take some kind of inspiration from Jin Sakai’s journey. With this said, fans are hyped to know that the game will be set during the Japanese feudal era.

However, this is purely speculation at this point as there are still no announcements by either Sucker Punch or Sony that a sequel is in the works. For now, the new multiplayer mode called Ghost of Tsushima Legends is now available. The free update has already become a famous addition to the PlayStation exclusive, bringing players back to the game for more.

Ghost of Tsushima set high standards not only for action-adventure games but for samurai games in general. For the sequel, fans of the franchise will definitely want the developers to further enhance the game’s combat mechanics found in the first game. Enhancing this feature might be where the developers focus on the sequel.

Based on feedback, fans also want more in-depth elements in the sequel. Even though Sucker Punch desired to prevent giving fans numbers to worry about, integrating more RPG aspects adds depth to the game as well. Slight changes like stats might aid players to feel more accomplished in completing certain challenges.

One of the best factors in the original game was the story-rich side quests. Of course, every player wants this feature to return. However, it would make things better if developers include consequences to every choice a player makes in the game. This would definitely assist in making every action more memorable. While decision making is present in the original game, the questline follows a direct path.

Ghost of Tsushima is an impressive game as well as its recently released multiplayer mode, to say the least. The developers should utilize the game’s momentum to innovate an entirely new series exclusive to the PlayStation. Fans can only hope that the sequel will come sooner rather than later.

PUBG Season 9 Has Officially Launched

0
banner-1536x864

The ninth season of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has officially gone live, bringing with it a ton of new content and improvements for fans to enjoy.

Although the new changes are definitely exciting to explore, the most interesting aspect of this season is the new and unique dynamic map called Paramo, which is now available for fans to play on.

To celebrate the launch of PUBG Season 9, developer PUBG Corporation also released a launch trailer to show the players what they can expect in this new season. At the beginning of October, the studio revealed that Season 9 would highlight the new map Paramo, which was said to be a mysterious location situated up in the clouds.

PUBG Corporation claimed that Paramo would be different from the other maps on PUBG, as its layout was constantly changing with every new match. In addition, Season 9 was announced by the studio to be shorter compared to previous seasons.

However, PUBG Corporation assured fans that this won’t hinder the gameplay or the quality of the season.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-22-21_58_08

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-22-21_39_36

Before its official release, PUBG did a pretty great job of informing players about the upcoming update and what they can expect to find in it. Paramo, on the other hand, was discussed by the studio even more frequently, with PUBG Corporation specifically pointing out what makes the map so unique.

For one thing, this 3×3 map will not have any red zones, while blue zones will reduce in size in a much slower manner compared to the other maps. However, the blue zones will inflict even more damage to compensate for this.

On another note, players can only make use of motorcycles in Paramo, while helicopters will pass by the map every now and then to drop supplies to the players. This is the very same helicopter that drops players onto the map at the start of the match.

In this specific season, players will be able to loot a Secret Room Key, although PUBG Corporation hasn’t revealed the purpose of it just yet. Asides from the new map, PUBG Season 9 will introduce an all-new Ranked Mode that has been configured to benefit solo players as well.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-22-21_58_59

Those who decide to get the season pass will be able to access Survivor Pass: Highlands, which includes exclusive missions and rewards. However, the downside to this is that it will only last for a limited time, specifically for only two months.

As for PUBG‘s currency known as the G-coin system, this has officially become the only accepted form of payment across the different platforms. Last but not least, the latest update also contained fixes to maintenance issues and bugs, just like your average patch.

That being said, the arrival of Season 9 is expected to bring interesting changes to PUBG. Despite the fact that it’s considerably shorter than other seasons, it’s safe to say that it’s still worth your time since PUBG Corp. has included a lot of new content.

Season 9 was released with patch 9.1, but patch 9.2 is already in the works and will be released at a later date. This next patch will also include new content, only this time the spotlight will be focused on the game’s story and lore.

Kojima Productions Currently Working On New Music For Undisclosed Project

1
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-22-20_42_00

Nearly one year has passed since Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was initially released on the PlayStation 4, while it’s been only three months since the action game was launched on the PC.

Despite the fact that Death Stranding had many polarizing reviews from both players and critics, it was clear that Kojima Productions would return with another game at some point in the future. It seems that the time is nigh, as an important member of the studio has revealed that they are already working on something new right now.

Kojima Production’s Composer and Audio Director, Ludvig Forssell, took to Twitter recently to post a photo showing the audio team’s first recording since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic.

The posted image showcases the orchestra members situated about six feet apart from each other. Not only that, but we can clearly see that the string and percussion players, along with the conductor, are wearing masks for safety reasons.

Forssell clearly states in his tweet that the picture depicted the “first ‘COVID recording’ this year” for the team and that what they’re working on is for an “undisclosed project.”

That being said, we still don’t have a lot of information about this new project. As a matter of fact, Kojima Production’s latest announcement only confirmed that a new project is in the works and that the studio is currently hiring people to help out with its development.

Since the announcement was made, a lot of players have been considering the possibility that the mysterious project is somehow related to Death Stranding. Some have even thoroughly examined some of Hideo Kojima’s concept art, and have concluded that they hint at a sequel.

That being said, the fans’ fervent attention to detail is pretty much a double-edged sword in some cases. For example, flashback to July 2020 when dedicated fans were excited to hear the rumors that Kojima and famous horror mangaka Junji Ito were possibly partnering up on a future project.

However, fans were left disheartened when Ito clarified that a collaboration between the two parties was more of a passing thought during a party and not a solid commitment. On the other hand, it’s not always a bad thing to keep tabs on Kojima’s Twitter account.

The former game director of highly-acclaimed title Metal Gear started a segment on his account a while back which he dubbed as “Hideo’s Musings.” There, he answers a bunch of common questions from fans.

When he first began this segment, he teased information to the fans such as which creators and actors he took an interest in during that time. In other words, checking on Kojima’s Twitter account every once in a while could give you a hint as to what he has currently planned for this new project.

We might have to wait a while before we get any concrete information regarding this, but no worries. There are other things you can do or games you can play that will keep you busy in the meantime, such as Death Stranding, which is frequently on sale for the PC.

Latest Fortnite Patch Takes Up Considerable PC Space

0
ek6-1oax0aadvpn

Fortnite fans who play the game on PC will find that there’s a brand-new update that’s quite hefty in size. The free-to-play battle royale is now running on v14.40 to prepare fans for the upcoming Halloween event, Fortnitemares 2020.

This most recent update will get the festivities started for Fortnite’s Halloween season, which will be full of fun and spooky content such as the return of Midas, pumpkin rocket launchers, as well as yet another concert that will take place in-game.

Since Epic Games has already released the new patch across all the platforms that support Fortnite, the company took this time to address one issue that has been bothering PC players for a while now, and that is the ever-increasing update sizes.

According to one of Fortnite’s Twitter accounts dedicated to service updates, the company has acknowledged the fact that v14.40 is “larger than normal,” clocking in at around 27 GB. This means that the latest update is 7 GB more than the last patch, and almost double the size for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One’s last update.

On the more positive side, the fact that this latest update is quite large means “smaller downloads for future patches, and improved loading performance.” In addition to that, the optimizations brought about by this big update will significantly reduce the overall size for Fortnite’s PC version.

As a matter of fact, Epic Games states that the game’s file size for the PC will be brought down by over 60 GB, which means Fortnite won’t be considered as one of the most sizeable games on PC.

We’re not especially surprised that Fortnite has been getting bigger and bigger, especially since the title has had a steady stream of new content and features that keep players coming back for more.

For the past few years, Epic Games has had collaborations with other popular games and mainstream media. In fact, Fortnite Season 4 is completely Marvel-themed. There’s also a chance that Ghostbusters skins will be making an appearance in the game some time soon since dataminers were able to find evidence of them in the most recent patch.

Image

Players have been pretty stoked by all these new tie-ins, but the downside is the constant increase of the game’s file size. Over the past six months, Fortnite’s install size for the PC has notably increased from 45 GB during Season 2, to 90 GB for Season 4.

The difference gets even more considerable if you compare it to the required installation size from 2018, which was only about 30 GB. That being said, other games have been meaning to free up PC space as well.

One such example is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, with its new feature that allows you to uninstall specific portions of the game. Fans have been especially pleased with this addition, as they have been requesting it for quite some time now.

In other news, Fortnite’s Marvel-themed fourth season is still prospering, even though this season is reaching its conclusion given the fact that players have spotted Galactus soaring through Fortnite’s sky.
